Social Practice

Alongside her studio practice, Treviño develops socially engaged projects that merge art, ecology, and community care. From soap and textiles to awareness campaigns and sustainable design, these initiatives extend her exploration of cycles and interconnectivity into collaborative, real-world action.

In Southeast Asia, Bianca  collaborated with a family experimenting with leaves to craft everyday objects. Over the course of a month, she worked closely with them to refine designs, improve techniques, and develop prototypes, blending tradition with innovation. The project emphasized collaboration, creativity, and sustainability, and the family’s craft has continued to grow, supporting their livelihood while preserving a connection to natural materials. For Treviño, the leaf bags are more than objects—they are a daily reminder of nature’s beauty, a tactile link to the environment, and a reflection of how thoughtful design can transform organic matter into resilient, functional forms.

Alchémia is a granulated African black soap from Togo, crafted from dried cacao pods and permaculture-grown palm oil. With its soil-like texture, this natural, chemical-free soap can be used for body or laundry, scented to your preference, and travels light to reduce carbon footprint. Each handful not only cares for the skin and environment, but also supports cacao farmers with a sustainable source of income.

This project transforms discarded materials into symbolic forms that speak to cycles of consumption, disappearance, and resilience. Rooted in community collaboration and ecological urgency, the work highlights how what is often overlooked—waste, endangered species, forgotten voices—carries stories of global consequence. By reimagining these materials, Bianca creates spaces of reflection that invite viewers to confront both the fragility of our ecosystems and the choices that shape our shared future.
